Here in the sticks there are not many job opportunities. Most of the kids raise an animal to sell at the Summit County Fair in August. Last year we went to watch the fun, and decided to let the boys give it a try... After giving it alot of thought, ( choices being: Steers, Sheep,Pigs, Chickens,Rabbits) they choose pigs...The idea is to raise them to be between 230-300lbs. no more and no less or they are dis-qualified. So off to a Show Pig Farm we went. The little pigs only weigh about 55-60 lbs now I hope we can get them there. But not only do you have to raise them, you have to tame them like a dog. When you show them you can only use a cane to tap them with, if they get wild or fight you are out of the running. Daxton has been really good to sit in the Pig Palace and talk to them, they are actually getting tame enough to pet now.
The cows are Grandpa Jims idea, but Nile takes care of them he really loves being a farmer in all of his spare time,(like he has any), But I guess when you live in the sticks you do as the hicks. Gotta love it!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAQUELL FRIER
Today is my sweet niece Jaquell s Birthday!!!! She is 15 years old. As most of you know, she has been fighting a brain tumor for this past year. Jaquell is one of those people you will always remember, she always has been. When she was a little one people would always comment on how beautiful she is , and still is inside and out. Jaquell is my hero, she has the most positive attitude about life. Officially she is not in a full remission yet, but if you ask her she will tell you, "Yep I beat it, I beat my cancer" She got a wonderful gift for her birthday, The Make a Wish people sent her and her family to the Bahamahs to a resort for a week. I wish her a great b-day and I know she has many many more to come.....Happy Birthday honey we love you!!!
