Last weekend the South Summit Wildcats played in thier first tournament ever. As you could imagine it wasn't a pretty one, but I think they all had a good learning experience. Nile is so good and patient with the boys, until last year most of them had never played baseball before. They all have alot of heart and willing to learn and practice hard. Super League is huge in Salt Lake and Utah counties, some teams have tryouts each year to build stronger teams to be more competitive. At the tourney I overheard one coach talking to another about a tryout he had in January. He asked how many turned out for his tryout, mind you he only had 2 positions to fill.
When he replied" around 70-75" I thought holy cow!! That is almost how many we have in the whole 6th grade!!! No wonder they are so solid. But like Coach Hansen says "Baseball is about more than winning". So this little team is a work in progress.
